SMOKERS are kicking the habit in droves, according to two outreach workers who visit industrial estates handing out advice.
A special smoking cessation van with two specially trained advisers was on hand at the Rossendale Road Industrial Estate, Burnley, to offer information on kicking the habit.
The new service is provided by the NHS and funded by Primary Care Groups.
According to Janice Cutler and Yvonne Skellern-Foster, more than 300 people have committed to giving up in the past five weeks alone.
Janice said: "I think the reason for the success is that we are a non-judgmental service. That is why people feel they can come to us."
The service will call at Rossendale Road every Tuesday from 9.30am to 4.30pm and on Wednesdays at Carrs Road Industrial Estate, Rossendale, on Thursdays at Lomeshaye Industrial Estates at the same times.
