CHORLEY slipped to a 12-point defeat at the hands of high flying Hull KR, but the Lynx can look back on an excellent first half performance.

However, in the second half the Robins took the game away from Lynx.

Both sides showed a willingness to throw the ball around despite the windy conditions and Lynx struck first in the fourth minute when Liam Jones slipped a short pass to Wayne Bloor to touchdown - Jones adding the conversion.

Their lead lasted only four minutes when a Dane Dorahy bomb caused confusion in the Lynx defence and Richie Hayes was on hand to touchdown with Chris Charles adding the conversion.

It took a moment of magic from ex-Leeds star Leroy Rivett to restore the Lynx lead.

He stole the ball in the tackle in his own half and left the Robins defence trailing, Jones added his second goal.

Lynx then lost Australian full-back Michael Watts with a head injury and almost immediately Kingston Rovers were level with try from Jimmy Walker after good approach play from Charles, who also added the conversion.

Hull were now pressing hard and they went ahead in the 24th minute when Charles ghosted past would-be tacklers to send in Andy Smith with Charles again adding the conversion.

Undaunted, Lynx continued to battle hard and were level when Rivett again showed his awareness with an interception deep in his own half and again leaving the KR defenders in his wake to touch down, Jones adding another conversion.

Lynx were then penalised for a high tackle and Charles slotted over the penalty to edge the visitors ahead.

Andy Smith then touched down to give the visitors a 24-18 half-time advantage.

From the start of the second half Lynx were under constant pressure deep in their own half, it was no surprise when the visitors increased their lead with a try from Whetu Taewa, converted by Charles five minutes into the half.

Hull KR continued to dominate and two further tries from Taewa and a conversion from Charles put the game out of Lynx's reach.

Lynx did recover their composure to score two tries in the last 10 minutes through Paul Wilcock and Tim Street with a conversion from Jones to leave the Lynx just 12 points adrift at the final hooter.
