POLICE are warning Land Rover owners in the Ribble Valley to be on their guard, following a spate of thefts in recent weeks.
The latest incident took place overnight between last Friday and Saturday, when a blue Land Rover Defender pick-up, registration L165LEC, was stolen from Hellifield Road, in Bolton-by-Bowland.
During the last month, six have been stolen and a seventh, at Grindleton, was saved after intervention from passers-by, who forced the thieves to flee, leaving their tools behind.
Two Land Rovers have been taken from Ribchester and another from Gisburn. Land Rover Discoveries have also been stolen from Ribchester, Clayton-le-Dale and Mellor.
Insp Bob Ford, of Clitheroe police, said the thefts were unusual in that they occurred, in most cases, between 9.30pm and 10pm and while they were parked on their owners' driveways.
He added that it was believed the stolen vehicles were then driven away in convoy with a VW van.
Anyone with information should contact Clitheroe police on 01200 443344.
