INEVER thought I'd see Coronation Street stoop so low. Bet Gilroy (Julie Goodyear) is to make a comeback after all this time.
The Street in my opinion has gone down in my estimation due to the lack of 'characters.'
Eddie Yeats (Geoff Hughes) and Hilda Ogden (Jean Alexander) were institutions and the Street will never see their like again.
It seems a desperate measure by Granada TV bring Bet Gilroy back. But recently I've stopped watching the Street after many decades and now this decision by Granada has put me off for life.
I never thought I'd see the day when Coronation Street wasn't getting the viewing figures it got in its prime, but the new characters don't have the appeal of the old ones.
Unless the producers get back to basics and come up with better storylines, I'm afraid we may have to say goodbye to Britain's favourite soap opera for good.
