AN 83-year-old woman is recovering from shock today after discovering she had been locked in her own home by a burglar.
The pensioner, who has not been named, woke up yesterday to find an intruder had broken into her home and left her front and back doors locked.
A black shoulder bag and £45 in cash were stolen from the house in Shale Street, Burnley.
Det Sgt Peter Simm aid: "She was extremely upset that she was locked in her own home.
"Officers climbed through a window to help her.
"The locks to her home have now been changed."
The crook got into the house by forcing a kitchen window while the woman was asleep.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Burnley CID on 01282 472144 or ring Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555111.
