YOUNG people in Pendle who have always wondered what it would be like to attend a large scale dance event such as Cream or Ministry of Sound will have the next best thing on their doorstep next weekend.
Youth Action Trust for Pendle has organised an event called 'Gravity' which will take place at West Craven Sports Hall in Barnoldswick on Saturday, February 16, between 7.30 and 11.30pm.
Two truckloads of equipment will provide a stage set with giant seven metre high inflatable spheres and cones.
It will also have sound and lighting, while the entertainment will be provided by DJs and podium dancers.
The event is supported and funded by Pendle Council, Barnoldswick Town Council, Pendle Community Safety Partnership, Pendle Leisure Trust, Lancashire County Council and the police.
This will be the second Gravity event in a series of four. The first took place in Colne last November, a third event is scheduled for March in Colne and a fourth is in the planning stages.
West Craven councillor David Whipp said: "The whole idea of these events is to provide a quality event for young people to come to and enjoy.
"The last one in Colne was hugely popular and no doubt this is going to be a must-not-miss event. It will be fantastic.
"An enormous amount of effort is going in to the organisation of equipment and it will be an extremely fun event."
Both male and female professional security staff and stewards will oversee the event and ensure a safe environment free from alcohol and drugs, with full searches being carried out on entry.
Admission will be £3 with a completed promotional flyer, which have been disrtibuted to schools and youth groups, and £4 without.
