"WE USED to get some strange people on line.

One American woman offered me $70 for my trainers." jokes Anthony Chesworth, 21, the brains behind Lancaster's very own Big Brother house.

He declined the shoe offer, but this odd request is a regular occurrence for the six students who live their lives 24 hours a day on the internet.

The boredcam.co,uk website was set up, as the address hints, because Anthony and fellow student Natalie Dickson, 21, were simply bored and wanted to do something productive instead of watching Richard and Judy.

"We've got two webcams set up.

One in the front room and one facing the kitchen.

We want to put some more in, maybe on the corridor and at the front door," explains Anthony.

The four other housemates; Ross Boulton, 19 from Shrewsbury; Helen Evers, 19 from Cornwall; Emma Daniels, 19 from Dewsbury, Yorkshire and Adrian Taylor, 20 from Stockport were all happy to be on the web when they all moved in together in late September.

Ross explains the expansion of the site.

"It was originally just one page with the webcam on, but because of the success of the site, it expanded."

" So now we've got profiles of everyone on there, a diary of what we've been up to and even a chatroom.

It's just grown and grown."

While the original Big Brother had cameras everywhere, boredcam doesn't pry too much into the lives of the students.

But how does it feel to be on the internet all day?

"It's not too bad.

When it was first put up, I found it a bit weird, but you get used to it." says Natalie.

"You don't really think about it.

And because the cameras are in places like the living room and kitchen, it's not too pervy.

But it depends on what ideas Anthony has." adds Emma.

The site is now getting around 3000 hits a week, and it' s expected to get higher, after posters have been going up advertising the site around the Lancaster University campus.

"The posters were our own doing.

We've got stupid pictures like me on the toilet reading a paper and the girls all together in bed.

It's definitely added to the popularity.

"I think more people log on to try and see the girls," jokes Adrian

"I got recognised in the university coffee shop the other day.

It was strange," says Natalie excitedly.

What has been the reaction of the ' contestants' families been to the site?

"My aunt and uncle went on it the other day.

I haven't heard anything from them for a few weeks, I hope it didn't upset them!" says Helen.

Now with an anonymous landlord asking for students to move into another Big Brother style house in Lancaster, how do they feel about their rival?

Anthony says: "I don't think it'll be a success.

This landlord is, apparently, trying to make money, but I don't think he will."
