A grieving Morecambe family were being comforted by relatives this week following the death of their four year old daughter in a tragic house fire.

The youngster suffered a massive heart attack after being pulled from a blaze at her family home.

Eden Lewis was rescued by fire fighters and revived by paramedics but died later while in intensive care at Pendlebury Hospital in Manchester.

The fire at Needham Avenue in Morecambe's West End broke out at about 10.45pm on Monday evening.

Fire-fighters rescued Eden from an upstairs bedroom where she was found unconscious.

Her father and sister were also found unconscious inside the smoke filled house and were carried to safety by firemen.

Eden was revived and taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary where she was treated for smoke inhalation.

She was then taken to the intensive care ward at Pendlebury's children's hospital but they were unable to save her.

Alex Lewis, 17 months old, received oxygen treatment at the scene and is said to be in a stable condition at the RLI.

The father, Dale Lewis, has been released from the RLI after treatment.

The children's mother, a nurse, was at work when the fire broke out.

A spokesman for the fire service said that there was a severe fire in the kitchen when they arrived.

A neighbour had alerted them to the fact that people were inside and they forced entry into the building and rescued three people from the house using breathing apparatus.

Investigations into how the blaze started are currently being carried out.

Initial investigations suggest the fire started in the kitchen.
