CLASSIC 1 at home to Blackburn Northern brought a narrow 3-2 defeat.
Carl Bennett, making his first team appearance, gave a cracking performance before narrowly losing in a hard fought five setter.
Mike Howard, despite having game ball in the second game, failed to earn any points, losing 3-0. Tod Bulmer was outclassed and lost 3-0. Mark Taylor, however, was in good form winning 3-0. Howard Thornley's fitness earned him victory in a gruelling five setter.
Classic 2, playing away at Prestwich Village, were outclassed on the night, losing 5-0.
Lynda Gregory reached 2-2 only to lose concentration in the final game. Gerald Prescott took the first game and things looked promising but eventually lost 3-1. Dave Haines, Vic Moses and Gordon Bailey failed to take a game, all losing 3-0.
