MORECAMBE will travel to Scarborough after brushing aside Gresley to reach the fifth round of the FA Trophy.

It is a tough but winnable tie for Jim Harvey's side, who are now amongst the favourites to take the competition after the conference's top two both went out in the early rounds.

On-loan striker Alex Hay was the hero of Saturday's Christie Park clash, scoring four goals as he struck up an immediate understanding with Wayne Curtis, who added the fifth.

Gresley, managed by former Bolton and Scotland striker John McGinlay, went behind on 28 minutes when Hay took advantage of a loose ball in the penalty area to hit home.

Within a minute, a Garry Thompson corner was flicked on by Curtis for Hay to add his second.

Hay completed his hat trick before the break, again with Thompson and Curtis joining the build up.

Morecambe retained control of the game after the break and were given a further boost when Gresley keeper James Lindley was forced to go off injured.

McGinlay, who had a quiet game up front, was forced to take over the gloves and the Shrimps were in no mood to give the boss an easy ride.

Hay turned in a cross from Lee Colkin on 77 minutes and, just three minutes later, Curtis took advantage of another loose ball to finish clinically.
