LEIGH Miners Rangers Under 16s demolished Saddleworth Rangers 28-0 to lift the Lancashire Cup at Hilton Park on Sunday.
It was a remarkable climax for the Under 16s who made a terrible start to the season due to a lack of players. But under coach Jason Seddon they have moulded into a fine team.
Two years ago Seddon guided the Under 14s to cup success. He left the club for a time but is now back winning silverware.
Rangers were in tremendous form right from the start when they set up a smart attack and Hartley went 20 yards for a try. He also added the conversion.
It stayed at 6-0 until just before half time when Bowler went in at the corner for a 10-0 lead.
Rangers continued to pile on the pressure after the break and from a scrum close to the Saddleworth line, Jameson nipped in for a try goaled by Hartley.
Leigh quickly added a gem of a try when the ball flashed through eight pairs of hands and ended with Hartley scoring his second. Coleman put Ainscough over for another Hartley converted try and just before the end Hartley completed his hat-trick after good work by Lewis.
Hartley was named as man of the match but was closely followed by Sharkey and Lewis.
