A SECOND half Michael McPike hat-trick saw Concert Inn into the semi finals of the Leigh Soccer League's Sharman Cup with a 3-2 win at Three Crowns B.
Martin Foster had given the home side a ninth minute lead which stayed intact until two minutes after the interval. McPike blew it apart with strikes on 47, 64 and 80 minutes. Crowns hit back with a Kevin Parker goal six minutes from time but Concert held on.
The first round tie between Howe Bridge Mills and quarter finals between Asda Golborne and Atherton Royals, Fir Tree Rangers and Courts were all postponed.
On course
In the Carl Brown Memorial Trophy, Division One leaders Kersal Vale stayed on course for a league and cup double with a 4-0 quarter final win over Royal Oak.
John Smith notched his 31st goal of the season two minutes into the game with Steve White adding a second on 25 minutes. Royal Oak held the Salford outfit at bay until the last 10 minutes when further Vale goals came from Mark Gartley and Steve Tidmas.
AFC Limelight also booked a place in the hat for the semi -final draw with a 6-4 away win at Leigh Avenue. The 10 goal thriller saw Limelight 3-0 up at the interval and 5-0 by the 50th minute. Darren Pollard got a hat-trick, brother Matt one and Nick Hayes one. Steve Ackers reduced the arrears on 55 minutes only for Hayes to get his second four minutes later to make it 6-1.
The last half hour was a complete reverse with Ackers scoring twice more for his hat-trick and John Willan once and Avenue left to wonder what may have happened had time not run out.
