ON the back of the previous week's strong performances Lytham needed to continue the rich vein of form, and they certainly didn't disappoint.
Within minutes of the start captain Richard McGee converted a short corner which set the standard for the remainder of the match.
David Robbins then added his first from open play when he collected the ball on his own 25-yard line and dribbled the rest of the way before unleashing a fierce shot past the helpless keeper. Two more goals were added from short corners by Chris Simcock, and McGee's second strike made the half-time score 4-0.
The second half continued in the same manner with Graham Shaw scoring from a Metro mistake and then winning a penalty flick, scored by Robbins.
Chris Kay struck the ball past the Metro keeper after working his own space in a crowded D. Then Simcock added his second following good play down the left. Tom Atkinson topped off his excellent display with a goal in the dying minutes.
Lytham must now maintain this standard of performance if they are to continue their winning streak.

LYTHAM put in a good team performance to win against a strong Leyland side. Michelle Singleton opened the scoring with a well-placed shot after a great series of passing moves through midfield. Lytham continued to dominate and were rewarded with further goals from Ann Preston and Heidi Whitehead, following good work from Gemma Noon, to lead 3-0 at the interval.
Lytham started the second half well and Preston added her second from Gilly Cooper's hard work. Whitehead rounded off her day with a reverse stick strike for her second goal and Lytham's fifth. The passing and movement throughout the team was a joy to watch all afternoon.
