CHILDREN from two primary schools visited a factory in Whitworth as part of Groundwork Rossendale's Ollie Recycles project.
Year four pupils from St Bartholomew's in Whitworth and Northern Primary School in Bacup were given a tour of the factory by Dan Otterburn, business development manager.
The company reuses unwanted materials to produce felt.
Mr Otterburn said: "We use raw materials that would otherwise have been dumped on a landfill site and turn them back into something useful.
"We contacted Groundwork because we feel very strongly that we are doing something worth while."
Lesley Bloor, project officer for Groundwork Rossendale, said: "As well as providing information about waste and recycling, the visit also provided experiences relevant to other national curriculum subjects."
