AFTER a weekend away from the ice, Blackburn Hawks are ready to delve into some hot hockey action - and what better opponents to gee them up than arch-rivals Altrincham Aces?
The Hawks have already suffered two major defeats at the hands of the Aces this season, but coach Bobby Haig is hoping his team can put the memories behind them and seek revenge when Altrincham take to Arena ice in an English Cup tie tomorrow.
"It's always a tough game against the Aces, but we'll give it our best shot," said Haig.
"Of course we would love to win, but Altrincham are on a high at the moment after beating league leaders Whitley Warriors, so we'll have to wait and see.
"As long as the lads give it 110 per cent I'm happy. I want a nice, clean game so we can get it over with. What I certainly don't want is another embarrassing defeat."
Netminder Colin Downie will return to the Hawks' squad tomorrow night following a suspension, giving Haig the straight choice of either Colin or Robbie Smith. Craig Sharman also returns after recovering from a leg injury.
However, Christian Wareing will miss out with a suspected knee injury and Wayne Whitby and Tony Melbourne have been released till the end of the season due to work commitments.
The Arena doors are open from 5.15pm tomorrow for the 6pm English Cup face off against Altrincham Aces.
