FOR years I have driven home via Glebe Street, Kirkhall Lane and the by-pass and it's never been much trouble.
Recently though, like everywhere else, traffic travelling the same route has multiplied massively.
On Tuesday cars were queuing to get out right back from Kirkhall Lane to Prescott Street, and with vehicles parked up on the pavement on both sides of the road there was only a single lane of traffic up the centre.
As a result traffic was unable to turn right into Glebe Street from Kirkhall Lane where there was a tail back because no-one could get through.
It used to take me 25 minutes to get home, now it takes that time to reach Lovers Lane.
The answer is of course not to use the short cut.
Some time ago it was suggested that those side streets near Leigh RL Club should be made one-way -- nothing happened. Perhaps its time to look seriously at the growing problems there.
