A FAMILY looking forward to a five-star luxury holiday with friends were offered alternative accommodation a week before departure at a hotel with nudists facilities.
Mr Jeremy Buckley from Holcombe Village had booked the holiday to Tenerife at Going Places in the Trafford Centre for his wife, Christine, children, Thomas (14); Hannah (5) and Jennifer (4) and friends from Cheshire at a cost of £5,669.
The party of nine, who were due to fly out today (Fri Feb 8), were offered compensation of £40 per person to go to the alternative accommodation in the same resort or their money back.
The balance was paid on December 2 for the week at the Hotel Conquistador at Playa de las Americas where they had been before. But when Mr Buckley looked at the details of the new Noelia Sur Hotel in the same resort, he was horrified that one of its attractions included a nudist balcony. Mr Buckley, managing-director of Bury-based chartered loss adjusters Buckley Scott Associates, has now instructed solicitors to ask Airtours to honour their original booking.
He said: "I just can't believe that in this day and age a holiday company can treat people like this.
"I don't regard the other hotel has having a family atmosphere and certainly I don't want my children with a bunch of perverts."
He added: "I find the situation totally unacceptable but at the eleventh hour there is nothing we can do. If we did not go to the children would be devastated."
Airtours have apologised to the group but say the overbooking occurred due to an administration error on the part of the hotelier.
An Airtours spokesman said: "Unfortunately , on this occasion the hotelier has not been able to help us fulfil our customer's preferred choice and we have relocated the party to a comparable hotel within the same resort."
