STAFF at Queen's Park Hospital, Blackburn, have been awarded gold certificates for their work in promoting healthy living.

The staff from ward D3 and the dietetic department were presented with their awards by Blackburn, Hyndburn and Ribble Valley NHS trust chairman Ian Woolley.

Staff on D3, a cardiology ward held a cardiac risk awareness day.

The dietetic department had staged a range of displays and health fairs, trained other health staff on health promotion and helped set up the healthy shelf scheme with local shopkeepers, where they are encouraged to include healthy options in their stock. Margaret Eastham, health promoting hospitals manager, and north west co-ordinator for the English national network, said: "In Blackburn, we are helping lead the way in health promotion."
