LANCASHIRE county council has lifted the remaining footpath closure order and 99 per cent of Lancashire's Rights of Way are now open.

But the council is warning people to make sure they know which areas are suitable for walking before they start a ramble.

Bosses say walkers in some area could still come across some closed footpaths.

Anyone wishing to plan a route in advance can contact the Countryside Service on 01772 264709 for advice.

All of the popular visitor destinations are open, Pendle Hill will be accessible from most paths including the Nick o' Pendle and Barley, riverside paths at Slaidburn, Clitheroe and Dunsop Bridge are open and the Ribble Way is open.
