TWO members of Blackburn Rovers staff, who were arrested by police investigating an alleged sex assault, will not face any charges.
The men, who have not been named, were quizzed after attending Blackburn police station voluntarily following an alleged incident at Rovers training complex at Brockhall Village, off the A59.
A woman made a complaint of sexual assault after Rovers Christmas party in December.
Police interviewed staff at the training complex and traced the movements of the two Rovers staff.
However, today they said that no further action would be taken on the matter.
Detective Inspector Neil Hunter said: "We carried out a thorough investigation into this complaint and interviewed a substantial number of people.
"We have now come to the conclusion that there is insufficient evidence to proceed and the investigation will now be closed with no further action taken against any of the parties involved."
A spokesman for Blackburn Rovers said:"We are naturally very pleased to hear that there will be no further action from the police.
"We await written confirmation of this from our solicitors.
"The matter will be discussed and finalised at the club's next board meeting."
