MORE than £1 million is being spent on a new pub in Bury town centre.
Work will begin next week on transforming the former Lloyds Bank building in Market Place, Bury, to create a two-floor entertainment hot-spot.
Manchester brewery, Joseph Holt Ltd, is behind the new pub which will feature a mix of traditional and modern drinking areas.
Drinkers in Bury could play a big part in the venture with brewery bosses launching a competition to find a name for the pub. The company is offering a £250 prize for the chosen suggestion.
Joseph Holt's commercial manager Mr Dave Topping said:
"We are not targeting a particular age group or type of clientele. The bar will prove popular with everyone."
To enter the competition, send suggested names by February 23, 2002, to: Joseph Holt Ltd, Derby Brewery, Empire Street, Cheetham, Manchester, M3 IJD or e-mail at competition@ joseph-holt. com. The judge's decision is final.
