FIREFIGHTERS from Burnley, Accrington, Bacup, Rawtenstall and Rochdale were called to a fire in a mill in Whitworth yesterday .
The fire, which had started in disused machinery on the factory floor at Facit Mill on Market Street, took just over half an hour to bring under control after fire crews from Bacup were called at 2.20pm.
An aerial ladder and environmental protection team from Burnley and an incident support unit from Accrington were on hand during the blaze, which left the building badly damaged.
Thirty square meters of north light roof was damaged by fire with smoke damage to the contents of the mill which is used for storing cotton.
