PAYING an extra £6.50 in council tax for gritting (LET, February 5) is not worth its salt.
I would soon be on to Councillor Ashley Whalley of Blackburn with Darwen Council, asking where the heck the gritters were while listening to his limp excuses as still more of my hard-earned money is gobbled up.
A better idea would be to let us taxpaers have a couple of bags of the stuff so we could fend for ourselves.
Salt bins are of no use in many areas as they are emptied over the pavements the day they are filled -- ours did a runner this year.
Cut the waste and grit in haste, I say.
