A LONG-established bakery shop is to reopen, after a six-week refurbishment project.
Oddie's Bakery Shop, in Scotland Road, Nelson, will re-open on Monday.
Oddie's has been in Scotland Road since the early 1920s and the shop has remained virtually unaltered since that time.
During the refurbishment, the chimney breast was removed from the middle of the shop, providing more space for customers and staff and the new-look shop will have a refrigerated self-service display and an oven which will allow staff to bake savoury food throughout the day.
Bill Oddie, managing director, said: "This has been a major reconstruction job and represents a major investment for Oddie's.
"It has been a project we have put off doing for a long time because of the sheer awkwardness of the shape of the original shop.
"This year we have gone for broke and hope that our customers are as pleased with the new-look shop as we are."
