POLICE are looking for a man who pretended to have had an accident in the car park of the Morris Dancers, Colne, while his partner in crime stole more than £2,000 from the pub's safe.
DC Dean Holden, of Colne CID, said: "The manageress was distracted by an Irish man claiming to have had some kind of accident in the car park.
"While he was distracting her, someone else went in to the office and stole the money from the safe."
The man, who had a strong Irish accent, was white, 35 years old, around 6ft, with a slim, clean shaven face, light brown short hair which was spiky on top, a large gold earring in his left ear, a small scar on his right cheek and brown eyes.
He was said to be wearing a dark, thigh length jacket and dark trousers.
There was no description of his accomplice.
DC Holden said they may have escaped in an L-reg blue Corsa. Anyone with information should contact Colne CID on 01282 472445.
