A TEENAGE security guard is fighting for his life after an attack in an area blighted during the Oldham riots.
Gavin Hopley, 19, of Horsefield Avenue, Whitworth, suffered a fractured skull.
He and two teenage friends strayed into Glodwick -- one of the areas in the town where some of the worst rioting took place in summer.
Police said they were set upon by Asians carrying sticks, who chased them further into Glodwick before they were assaulted.
Mr Hopley was the most seriously injured.
He was beaten unconscious and is in a critical condition in the intensive care unit of North Manchester General Hospital.
His parents Gary and Lorraine Hopley are said to be keeping a permanent vigil at his bedside.
A 17-year-old was given refuge by a local resident and a 16-year-old teenager managed to run away following the incident at 2.40 on Saturday. Officers investigating the case are not naming the two.
A 17 and 18-year-old arrested in connection with the incident are helping police with their inquiries and a 15-year-old boy was arrested yesterday in connection with the incident.
