I CAN'T believe Blackburn with Darwen Council leader Bill Taylor's response to the result of your poll on paying more for gritting the roads (LET, February 6). The reason people voted 'no' to paying an extra £6.50 is obvious -- it's because we pay enough council tax for an already-poor service.
If the council did not waste money elsewhere -- on projects such as the Church Street 'cobble-up' -- there might be more money to spin out elsewhere to tidy up the town.
Mind you, it's the kind of reply or attitude you come to expect from certain members of this council.
You have to laugh at their audacity and arrogance, haven't you?
