AN inquest has opened into the death of a Nelson man described by police as a known heroin user.
Douglas Robert Lowes , 63, was found dead in bed at his home in Manchester Road, Nelson, shortly after 2pm on Saturday.
Coroner's officer, PC Bob Wilson, told an inquest at Burnley that the circumstances of Mr Lowes' death were unclear.
A post mortem examination was carried out by Home Officer pathologist Dr Charles Wilson.
PC Wilson said: "We are now awaiting results of toxicology tests being carried out at Chorley.
"We are also making further inquiries."
Arrangements are being made for a cremation.
Acting East Lancashire Coroner Richard Taylor adjourned the hearing until the inquiries have been completed. Police are not treating Mr Lowes' death as suspicious.
