A POLICEMAN has been reprimanded after he admitted visiting his girlfriend while he was supposed to be on duty.
The PC admitted visiting the 26-year-old's home in Accrington when he was questioned by police bosses earlier this week.
The move followed an official complaint made by the woman. The officer has also been moved from Accrington police station to Blackburn in an effort to "deal sensitively" with the breakdown.
The relationship has now ended.
The woman, who lives in the Nuttall Street area of Accrington, said: "I want people made aware that he did this while on duty.
"I wanted to make sure something was done about it."
Chief Insp Neil Smith said: "As a result of information given to the police by a woman, a police constable serving at Accrington police station has received words of advice.
"The police officer, who until recently was living with the woman, has confirmed that he had visited her address whilst on duty.
"In order to deal sensitively with the breakdown of the relationship the officer has agreed to transfer to another station.
"The woman has been informed of the result."
The PC said: "I am sorry that my relationship with this woman had to break down.
"I would now hope that we can put this behind us and get on with our respective lives."
