A MAN was robbed at knifepoint in an early morning attack in Skerton.
The 53-year-old local man was walking along the riverside off Mainway at 12.35am on Monday morning when he was approached by a man, who asked him for directions.
A second man then appeared and produced a knife, said to have a six to eight inch blade, and demanded money.
The man, feeling frightened, has then handed over the small quantity of money in his possession and the robbers then made off.
The first man is described as white, approximately 6ft tall, of slim to medium build and clean-shaven with short hair under a baseball cap which had Reebok written on it.
He spoke with a local accent.
The man wore a dark coloured, bulky jacket which was zipped up.
The second man is also white, approximately 5ft 10in tall, clean-shaven and of medium build with short hair.
He spoke with what is described as a Geordie accent or similar.
The man wore a similar Reebok baseball cap and a dark roll neck pullover.
