WESTLEIGH High School's new rugby league teams made their debuts this week in a new kit that celebrates their unique partnership with Leigh Centurions.
Leigh's international hooker Paul Rowley - the school team's coach - handed over the strip on Tuesday just before they kicked off matches against local rivals Bedford High School.
Coach Rowley is delighted with the progress of the youngsters. "The boys have worked hard on their skills and set plays, I'm sure we'll give Bedford a few surprises. The team spirit is excellent and having seen the new kit I'm sure that it will give the Westleigh High teams a real lift."
Headteacher John Pout says: "Westleigh playing Bedford is a bit like the British teams playing Australian sides. They may have more strength in depth but our top players are as good as any of theirs."
