HINDLEY boxer Mark Paxford added another win to his professional record with a points victory over Nottingham's Richard Inqueti at Preston Guild Hall.
Paxford is now unbeaten in five contests, with just a controversial draw on his debut spoiling a perfect record.
Cheered on by a large and vocal following from Hindley, Paxford powered into an early lead, winning the first two rounds with an impressive display of power punching. Inqueti made it through the first round after Paxford trapped him on the ropes and unloaded a series of blows to the head and body.
Inqueti proved his toughness, however, by coming back into the fight in the third round as Paxford allowed his concentration to slip. But he regained control in the fourth and went on to finish strongly to secure a 58-56 victory, Paxford winning four of the six rounds.
Paxford was straight back in the gym this week as he prepares for his next contest at Ellesmere Port on March 4.
