ON hearing the news that Lancashire County Council are proposing to close 50 per cent of its elderly care homes I felt I must write to express my anger at yet another failing of this authority.
Despite another hefty planned increase in Council Tax (don't they understand inflation rates) by the Labour controlled Council yet another essential service is to be cut.
They claim that insufficient funds are available to meet the required upgrading to their existing properties.
However they still manage to find funds to give every councillor a new laptop computer.
The Labour group promises to improve day care services to compensate for the cuts, which for many will probably give the elderly just one or two visits per day.
In the case of my great aunt (aged 100) this equates to just one hour per day.
Is this the 'true care' we expect or more 'don't care' from this council?
