THE TEAM put up a tremendous performance at Maine Road last Sunday but unfortunately that extra bit of class that a few million quid buys made the difference in the end.
But Preston fans had no need to feel despondent, we look to have a bright future with the young players who have come into the side recently.
Dickson Etuhu never buckled in the face of so much pressure, and Michael Keane is growing in stature with each game, and causes problems for the most experienced of opposing players.
The defence looks stronger with Gregan in his best position alongside Chris Lucketti, and the strike force, although a little lightweight, is already a match for any in this division.
So, with a little luck, and hopefully no more injuries, PNE must now try to push on for that end of season play-off spot.
And with backing from the fans the like of which they got at Man City, where the support from the Preston fans was superb, it won't be impossible.
This weekend it's Chelsea. Who would have thought a few seasons back that Preston would be at Maine Road one week and Stamford Bridge the next, and the FA Cup.
Hasselbaink and Zola? Forget them, Macken and Keane will steal the show.
A PNE Fans Night Out with music and dance has been arranged in support of Ryan Kidd's testimonial on Saturday, April 6 at Canterbury Hall. PNE players and management will be there and tickets are £6.
