LEYLAND travelled to Westhoughton in the NWC plate competition and the home side were well organised in both attack and defence.
Poor defence despite strong efforts by Linden Dixon and Man of the Match Harry Strange saw Westhoughton go into the lead in the first half with Leyland failing to get in the opposition's half.
In the second half, ball handling errors continued but a more dogged effort in defence reduced the scoring. Richard Appleby and Steve Pilkington showed continued improvement in their games.

ANOTHER defeat, BUT the scoreline didn't truly reflect the balance of play. Leyland began brightly pressurising Castleford and forcing errors but could not break through.
Several key injuries weakened the team in the second half and Castleford pulled away. However, the Warriors never let their heads drop and carried on fighting to the final whistle. Top tackler was Kirsty Marshall and player of the match was Kirsty Barratt.

LEYLAND took an early lead and carried their efforts on throughout the first half. Handling errors and sloppy play in the second half allowed the opposition to score their points.
The Warriors then doubled their efforts and went on to win comfortably.
There were four tries from Jamie Jackson and one each for Joe Purcell, Chris Shaw, Shaun Lambert and Declan Mallon.
A tremendous effort by runner up to man of the match Stuart Brown saw him converting seven of the eight tries. Man of the Match was Chris Shaw and top tackler was Andrew Rhodes.
