Air Miles Manchester League THE only Premier Division to survive the weather saw New Mills climb up to fifth spot with a fine 5-0 win over Pennington.
The Millers welcomed back Steve Done for his first full game, it was he who unlocked the visitors' defence when he converted a good through ball. Dean Morgan doubled the lead before half-time, his effort looping in to leave Pennington with a lot to do after the break.
Done had a gilt edged chance to add his second early in the second half, but saw his penalty kick saved, but he did convert a later opportunity to cap good personal performance. It was then left to Steve Littler to add the icing to the cake for the Millers, bagging two late goals to seal a comprehensive victory, the first coming from a firm header, the second deft lob. Stockport Georgians moved into the Gilgryst Cup semi-finals courtesy of a narrow 1-0 win over Elton Fold and the Premier Division leaders will now entertain Atherton Town in what promises to be a mouthwatering clash between to of this season's leading lights.
The first silverware of the campaign was secured by Leigh Athletic, their 2-2 draw at Royton Town being enough to claim the Third Division championship.
