A PHYSICS whizzkid from Blackpool is celebrating after a quantum leap to the top.
Arnold School pupil Amy Preece, 18, right, has won a medal in the British Physics Olympiad, marking her out as one of the top physics students in the UK.
And Amy, of Green Avenue, Blackpool, has also won a highly-prized place to read physics at Oriel College, Oxford.
Bill Gillen, principal of the Lytham Road school, said: "We congratulate Amy on her double success both in the Physics Olympiad and in winning her place at Oxford University.
"She has worked extremely hard and fully deserves the praise and plaudits."
