THE latest addition to the Bury College campus has now opened its doors to students and staff.
The brand new £2.8 million building has been named the Prospects Centre and extends the teaching and learning facilities available at the college. The building is situated behind the Millennium Centre.
There are modern workshops and laboratories equipped to meet the training needs of industry, including electrical and electronic engineering, papermaking and computer aided design and a "real work environment" for business information technology.
The centre also features spacious teaching rooms particularly for business studies and teacher education and fully equipped IT suites.
Principal Dr Helen Gilchrist commented: "We have chosen a name for the new building which reflects our expectations of success for students, future students, clients and staff.
"Students and staff are delighted with their new surroundings and we have had very positive feedback. The addition of this new building has enabled us to provide specialist teaching areas for a range of subjects, and to ensure that all our students have access to the very best learning facilities."
Turner and Townsend were the project managers for the building which was built by HBG Construction North West Ltd. Architects Bond Bryan, who designed the Millennium Centre, also designed the new building.
