ON a recent visit to Fairfield Hospital, although it was not at peak time, it was noticeable to me that there was heavy traffic on Rochdale Old Road. In addition, there appears not to be enough parking spaces at the hospital, as cars were being parked on Rochdale Old Road and in all the side streets.
As projections suggest that traffic will increase, the problem of congestion on Rochdale Old Road can only get much worse. It is a matter of some concern to me that an emergency ambulance might be delayed, with serious consequences.
The provision of an alternative route from Rochdale Road must receive urgent consideration.
