ONE of Accrington's most dedicated RAF workers was honoured at the RAF Association's annual band concert yesterday .
Gilbert Walmsley, of Bold Street, Accrington, deputy chairman of the local branch of the RAFA, was presented with a long service award for his work covering more than 30 years.
The honour was handed to him by Air Commodore Tony Gill of Clitheroe, who was himself awarded a CBE in 1993.
The award was one of only five to be given out in Lancashire this year.
It is the third year the charity concert, featuring the East Lancs Concert Band, has raised funds for the Accrington branch. Organisers hope to top last year's total of around £300.
