MPs have welcomed plans to change the names of dishes at Blackburn hospitals, after they were described as 'too fancy.'
A survey of patients revealed they could not understand names on TV chef Loyd Grossman's NHS menus.
Now they are to change them to something more simple, in a move backed by the East Lancashire MPs.
Hyndburn Labour MP Greg Pope, said: "We're straight-talking people up here and I certainly like to know what I am eating.
"But I am glad that there will be greater choice for East Lancashire hospital patients."
Ribble Valley Tory Nigel Evans, commented: "Just because people are in hospital doesn't mean they should have to eat prison food.
"I am very pleased there will be greater choice, but I am also delighted that it will be put on the menu in plain English.
"When I am abroad, I always like it if there is a translation of the menu so I can understand it. People in hospital in Blackburn want to know they are eating fish and chips not wondering if they would like poisson et frites."
Burnley MP Peter Pike, added: "I am very pleased there will be a greater choice of food, but it is quite right it should be written in language people understand. They don't want to have to guess at what they are going to eat."
