NELSON found their scoring touch with three goals that gave them a well-deserved victory in NWCL Division Two.

It was only their second win in eight games.

The Blues got off to a disastrous start, giving away a free kick on the edge of their penalty area in only the second minute of the game.

Norton's Dean Owen converted the chance with a low shot into the Nelson net off the foot of the post.

John Bailey's side were soon on level terms when Lee Coldridge headed home Stuart Mulligan's cross after nine minutes and Nelson took a grip of the game in midfield, threatening their opponents.

Mick Molyneux eventually gave them the lead after 56 minutes when he beat both the defender and goalkeeper to a Mulligan cross to stab the ball home.

Norton tried to stage a fightback but Nelson were in no mood to let their advantage slip and went further ahead with just five minutes remaining.

Again it was Mulligan who did the damage with a great run into the penalty area where he was pulled down by Norton keeper Damien Grange.

Spot kick specialist Andy Howarth duly fired home the penalty to give the Blues a much needed win.
