COLNE'S 10-game unbeaten run finally came to an end but John Lister's men didn't let it go without a fight.
The Holt House side's impressive run of form was halted in controversial fashion.
Second-placed Formby's winner came after just six minutes. The referee's assistant flagged for offside but the referee played on giving Colne the advantage.
But when the ball was played back to the keeper his hurried clearance was sliced to Formby's Neal Smith who knocked the ball home.
Colne's hopes of getting back into things weren't helped when they suffered their second sending off in successive games.
This time Stuart Walters was the guilty party. He picked up a second yellow mid way through the second period.
Formby had made life tough throughout for John Lister's battlers and the home side struggled to find a way through for an equaliser despite having more of the ball.
They looked at their most threatening from set-pieces. Gary Dalton headed over from a free-kick and Jonathan Irvine came close from another dead ball. But it wasn't Colne's day.
When Walters departed the fray early Colne's unbeaten run seemed doomed and though they continued to scrap it just wasn't to be.
