SOUNESS has revealed details of his squad's preparations ahead of the Worthington Cup match on Sunday.
Rovers will not head south for Cardiff until Saturday afternoon in order to have a full week's training at their Brockhall training base.
That way, Souness believes his players will go into the game fully focused on the task of lifting their first major Cup since 1928.
"I'm not a big believer in taking players away for three or four days in the build-up to a final because it upsets their routine," explained Souness.
"They're away from home and their families, and people tend to eat too much in those situations so we've decided to stay up here until Saturday lunchtime.
"That way, we can then get a full week's training in without all the other distractions you get in a week like this."
Rovers reserves are in action against Everton tonight at Morecambe's Christie Park (kick-off 7pm).
