PUPILS in Year 10 at Mansfield High School are currently undergoing training in order to be able to apply for prefect positions in the school.
The roles will become available as the Year 11 pupils begin study leave in May this year.
Training takes place during social health education lessons and is then followed up by a visit to Education Business Partnership in Clayton-le-Moors, where the youngsters are able to develop their personal and interactive skills through team building exercises.
Students will then be shown how to formally apply for jobs and taught interview techniques before applying for the prefect position and undergoing an interview. Head teacher Peter Dixon said: "All Year 10 students are trained and all have the opportunity to contribute to the school's organisation. It is an essential part of the citizenship education, providing positions of responsibility for all young people.
"The response from students has been mature and appropriate."
