POLICE were called to remove a father and son from a bus, where they had fallen asleep in a drunken stupor.
Blackburn magistrates heard that dad squared up to officers who eventually arrested him.
When the police eventually managed to wake Scott McKay they got him off the bus and were ushering him towards a bench when he realised his father had been arrested.
He also became abusive, despite the fact that he was still barely able to stand unaided.
John McKay, 60, care of Delph Close, Blackburn, and Scott McKay, 25, of Ciceley Court, Blackburn, both pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly.
John was fined £30 and Scott £50.
Sarah Perkins, defending John, said there had been a 10-year gap in his criminal record, which represented a period in his life when he was involved in a settled relationship.
The lady had been unfaithful, the relationship broke down and he had turned to alcohol 18 months ago.
"He lost his home, he doesn't have a job and he is effectively living on the streets," said Miss Perkins. "He has had difficulties in his life, but he is not without hope. He has shown that he can lead a law-abiding life and he desperately wants to stop drinking."
Scott McKay said he was full of remorse for his behaviour. "I am trying to rehabilitate myself and stop drinking and make progress in my life," he said.
