BURY offenders on community punishment orders will be cleaning up their acts.
And they will be sparing motorists of their least favourite task, that of washing the car.
A new car wash scheme, with proceeds going to charity, will be launched in Rochdale later this month.
Bury Victim Support, and its sister organisation in Rochdale, will benefit from the cash raised as will a Rochdale Scout troop.
Offenders from Bury are among those who will be involved in the scheme as part of their court order. This requires them to do unpaid work for the community in their own time.
All those taking part in the car wash will be strictly supervised by staff from the Community Service Unit.
A previous car wash scheme raised £18,000 in five years.
