LITTLE treasures are to inject some magic into their annual pantomime when they stage Aladdin this week.
And members of the Ramsbottom-based Freedom Community Theatre are hoping their own wish for a theatre will soon come true.
Young thespians will perform their version of the popular children's story at Ramsbottom Civic Hall.
Freedom Community Theatre Group was set up three years ago in an attempt to regenerate the community spirit through dance and drama. The group has successfully bid for a number of awards and grants, but it still needs more money.
Sylvia Roe, one of the founder members of the group, said: "We would eventually like our own theatre and would appreciate any help from local people and businesses in helping us to do this.
"One of the other founder members, Olwyn Maurer, has been trained by the Northern Ballet School, and we have many ideas, such as training children in the use of sound and lighting equipment and help the youngsters develop their own ideas. But we really need the money to carry them out."
Mrs Roe added: "Our performance of Aladdin involves a large cast including a school choir and many school children as well as a seven-foot camel!
"We have been rehearsing the play since last summer and are very grateful for Holcombe Brook Methodist Church for allowing us to use their premises whenever we wanted."
Performances of Aladdin will take place on Friday, February 22; Saturday, February 23 and Sunday February 24. Ticket prices are £4 for adult; £2 for OAPs and £1.50 for children.
