LIKE most Burnley fans Stephen Cummings (LET, February 12), has a huge inferiority complex regarding all things Blackburn Rovers.
This ingrained jealousy is borne out of years of following his impoverished little club around the lower regions of the Football League and suffering humiliating defeats at some of the most grandiose stadiums in the Fourth Division while watching his hated Rovers lord it at the top table, rubbing shoulders with the finest in the land and more than holding their own.
Rovers winning the Premier League in 1995 must have been a crushing blow to your average Claret -- a blow that Stephen Cummings has never quite recovered from and probably never will.
Losing to the lowest league clubs comes easy to Burnley. Look at the results against Rushden and Diamonds and Cheltenham only recently in the cups.
When they do come up against anything decent in the big league they fold.
Ask Manchester City fans -- they love playing Burnley.
They waited 17 years to play the Rovers, then didn't send the first team.
They were the easiest two games we ever had in the First Division.
Now, they think they can play in the Premier League. Well, if they ever get there I for one can't wait for the results on a Saturday evening.
Still, there's no need to worry about that, Stephen. It will never happen.
S JOHNSTON, Livesey Branch Road, Blackburn.
