COUNCILLOR Brian Jarvis is correct to voice concerns about crime, vandalism and anti-social behaviour.
However, this problem hasn't just arisen, it's been going on for years. Communities have had to witness the decline of their neighbourhoods and shopping areas while their pleas to police and politicians have produced no improvement.
In Golborne we have suffered from a long period of complacency and neglect with virtually no council provision for youth clubs, social and sports facilities.
In spite of the existence of numerous CCTV cameras in the town a small number of vandals arsonists, drunks and drug abusers have been allowed to wreak havoc with apparent impunity and ruin the quality of life of the majority of decent members of the community.
Those responsible for the control of the town and for the maintenance of law and order ought to be held to account for the present unacceptable state of affairs.
